ORTHOPAEDICS IN LIVERPOOL
The history of orthopaedic surgery in Liverpool dates back to 1859 when Huw Owen Thomas set up his clinic in Nelson street. Since then, the city has hosted some of the most famous names in orthopaedic surgery.

LIVERPOOL
Liverpool is one of the most vibrant cities in the UK. It boasts UNESCO World Heritage status due to the famous waterfront and wealth of Grade 1 listed buildings. It has excellent air, rail and motorway links allowing first class care to be delivered to patients from around the world.
OUR PAST
Alder Hey first opened it's doors in 1914. Pioneers of children’s orthopaedic surgery have worked there including Sir Robert Jones (the father of orthopaedic surgery) and Professor TP McMurray (the first Professor of orthopaedic surgery worldwide)
OUR FUTURE
In 2016 Alder Hey moved into a new, state-of-the-art hospital on an adjoining site. Alongside the Institute in the Park this has created a purpose built facility providing world-class innovation, research and patient care.
