Mr. Bruce has national acclaim for paediatric hip and spine surgery.


Brief Biography

Mr Bruce was born and educated in North Liverpool. He qualified in Medicine from Liverpool University in 1985.

He developed his interest in children’s orthopaedics after a student elective at the A. I. Du Pont institute in Delaware, USA.  Mr Bruce gained his FRCS(Eng) in 1987 and thereafter was trained in orthopaedics on the Liverpool orthopaedic training circuit. During his training he spent three months studying at Massachusetts General Hospital and a further six months studying children’s orthopaedics on the residency programme at Connecticut Children’s Medical Centre, USA. After completing his training in Stanmore, London as the National paediatric orthopaedic fellow Mr Bruce was awarded his CCST and took his consultant post at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool in 1997.

Mr Bruce presently holds office on the Executive of the British Society for Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery (BSCOS) and is the Treasurer of the North West Children’s Orthopaedic Group (NWCOG). He regularly lectures for BSCOS, NWCOG, and holds honorary Lecturer posts in Liverpool, Dundee and Edge Hill Universities. His practice encompasses the full spectrum of children’s orthopaedics and trauma with a special interest in paediatric hip and spine disorders.
